Client

Statkraft is Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy. The Group produces hydropower, wind power, solar power, gas-fired power and supplies district heating. Statkraft is a global company in energy market operations with 3600 employees in 16 countries.

Challenge

The early detection system could only send alarms directly to the Dispatch Centers, without the possibility to instead direct attention and notifications right to the maintenance teams. This reduced the flexibility in handling risk for overload of information for the operators at the Dispatch Centers, and to effectively coordinate maintenance actions. The visualization tools for the Dispatch Centers had low flexibility. The user experience was not optimal, the maintenance team could only visualize data for a period of 3 years and do trending of one signal at the time.

Enabling data-driven projects

Implemented an OSIsoft PI System Solution to collect, store, consolidate and centralize sensor-based data.

Visualization and scalability

Utilizing the PI System and PI Vision as an alternative visualization tool for the maintenance teams. Generic Template structures and Dashboards, built for large scaling.

Early notifications

Traffic light system as early detection for component level, unit level and site level.

Integration to SAP PM

Integrating the PI System with SAP PM to automatically generate work orders in SAP PM at pre defined alarm levels.
